Evan G. Daniels is a nationally recognized leader in fintech and insurance law and policy. As the head of the firm’s Regulatory & Financial Services Law practice group and a key member of the Public Interest & Political Law practice group, Evan represents clients nationwide in navigating complex regulatory frameworks, regulatory enforcement matters, and strategic compliance and corporate governance matters. He is highly experienced in dealing with state and federal regulatory agencies across various contexts, and he adds significant value to the Firm’s non-financial services clients by analyzing risk management frameworks, including insurance needs, risk profiles, and compliance considerations, as well as advising on insurance coverage matters.
Before private practice, Evan was appointed by then-Arizona Governor Doug Ducey to lead the Arizona Department of Insurance & Financial Institutions, where he served as the state’s chief regulator for insurance, banking, credit unions, and numerous other financial enterprises, including money transmitters, consumer lenders, and mortgage-related licensees. Before this role, Evan served as an Assistant Attorney General at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, where he helped establish Arizona’s first-in-the-nation Fintech Regulatory Sandbox program, enforced Arizona’s UDAAP statutes as part of the Office’s Consumer Protection Section, and led the Office’s unit that handled matters relating to the illegal use of public money, open meetings law enforcement, state election law enforcement, and complaints from the legislature on questions of county and municipal law.
Evan’s leadership in regulatory and public interest law makes him an invaluable resource for clients seeking guidance in navigating the intersection of innovation, policy, and compliance. Evan has represented his various offices and clients before institutions such as the White House, the Federal Reserve, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Arizona Legislature, and as an active member of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and the Conference of State Banking Supervisors. In addition, Evan is an experienced board director (both for profit and non-profit entities) and is a sought-after speaker regarding his areas of expertise.
Outside of work, Evan enjoys exploring new wines, rooting for his favorite sports teams, binge watching the spy thriller and political tv shows, and, increasingly, acting as chauffeur to an ever-increasing number of activities for his kids.
